Today is the first day of my first official ‘moderator of General Assembly’ visit. My husband Rod and I are in Northern Synod for four days and it looks like we have a wonderful and varied few days ahead of us.
This morning we joined a group of nine people from the Synod who’ve been walking the St Cuthbert’s Way since Monday – starting at Melrose and planning to finish tomorrow (Saturday 31 July) on Holy Island. We walked the 11.5 miles from Wooler to Fenwick on a warm and dry day getting fine views to the west and north and tantalising views of Holy Island to the east.
With almost every step I was reminded of how good it is to spend time with each other –today was all about sharing stories and laughter, pain and frustrations. And it was so good to walk – a very physical reminder of the centuries of faith which have been shared in different ways and places in these islands.
