Remembering my mother

Lunch together at The Lowry

Life has been very full recently, and blogging has temporarily slipped down my priorities list. The main reason for this has been the death of my mother, Sheila Thorpe, on the day in September when Martin and I would otherwise have been at Westminster Abbey for the Pope’s visit. Her funeral took place a week later and we had a service of thanksgiving for her life at church in November after I’d been on a visit to Cuba. I was delighted that on December 1st the Guardian chose to run the obituary I’d submitted about her. Here it is:  https://www.guardian.co.uk/theguardian/2010/nov/30/sheila-thorpe-obituary She was a URC minister too, and a big influence on my life and Christian faith.
