In October, Mr Derek Estill will lead worship at Alkrington and Providence United Reformed Church, Middleton, Manchester.
The Revd Nigel Uden will preach at Fareham, Hampshire; Weoley Hill, Birmingham; and Rustington, West Sussex; as well as preach for the Surrey and Sussex Synod Area. He will also attend: the Conservative Party Conference, the Methodist Church Council, a synod clerks meeting and a meeting of the URC Group for Evangelism and Renewal (Gear).
Both moderators will meet with their chaplains at URC House, London.
In September, Nigel Uden will preach at St James United Reformed Church, Newcastle; Heaton Moor United Church, Stockport; and Hounsom Memorial, Hove. He will also visit the Church of the Palatinate, Germany, and attend a Churches Together in England forum.
Mr Derek Estill will lead worship at St Andrew and St George’s URC, Bolton; attend a meeting of the URC Trust, London; and visit the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool. He will also attend meetings of the following URC committees: Assembly arrangements (London), mission (Leeds) and church-related community work programme subcommittee (London).
Both moderators will attend a meeting of the URC Mission Council advisory group in London.
On the first day of the United Reformed Church General Assembly (Friday 6 July) Mr Derek Estill and the Revd Nigel Uden will be inducted as Assembly Moderators, serving from 2018 to 2020. Later in July, both moderators will attend a political party briefing at Salvation Army’s headquarters in London, and will meet with their chaplains at URC House, London. They have no additional moderatorial appointments in July.
In August, Mr Estill will take part in a service marking the retirement of the Revd Lena Talbot, at Revidge Fold URC, Blackburn. He will also attend the URC Holiday Forum at the Hayes Centre, Derbyshire, and lead morning worship at Holymoorside URC, Chesterfield. Mr Uden has no moderatorial appointments in August.
