You’re never too small for mission

The final day of our tour of Northern Synod – this time visiting Guisborough and Lingdale – part of the East Cleveland group.

More good conversations over lunch

Over lunch we heard about the excellent ecumenical work in Guisborough, coordinated by The Bridge, a charity set up by the churches in the town. The range of work with young and old, across the community and reaching many different needs is impressive. None of Guisborough’s churches are particularly large, but together can undertake witness and mission way beyond the ability of any of the individual congregations – another lesson in interdependence!

The Millennium window at Lingdale - a light shining out as a beacon of hope over the dale

And finally to Lingdale – a community which grew up in the days of iron ore mining. Lingdale URC is a small congregation with certainly an exciting vision for mission in this community – it’s exploring the possibility of making new links with local school children, and from there into the wider community.

A big thank you to everyone who made Rod and I so welcome, giving their time to share their experiences with us both.
